I’m so glad you’re considering therapy.

Why therapy?

Most of the time, people come to therapy because they want change but don’t know how to make it happen. They feel trapped and stuck.

It happens to all of us. We all fall into destructive patterns with our friends, family, partners and children. We fall into destructive patterns with ourselves. We hold tight when it’s time to say goodbye and let go. We feel alone. We get overwhelmed and confused by our own feelings—if we feel anything at all. We get afraid that we’re failing and we can’t stop failing.

We all need a moment to hear ourselves think. We all need a space where we can reflect and find authentic ways to move forward.

That’s what therapy is all about.

My approach

My approach starts with respect for your life experience, your inherent power and your dignity. My office is a safe harbor where you are heard. You can say the unsaid and feel the unfelt. Together, we make space for change. We loosen up. We figure out better ways to be connected to others, to get free and to be human. If it aligns with your goals, we develop concrete, pragmatic ways for you to activate change in your relationships and in the world. These are often small, simple shifts that have real impact.

I work primarily with adolescents, young adults, prospective parents and parents with infants/young children. I work directly with children when I am also working with their parents. While my practice looks to personal history for context and insight, I focus on the here-and-now. The work is always a collaboration between us. I draw on attachment theory, cognitive behavioral therapy, psychodynamic approaches, mind/body research, structural family therapy, trauma-focused CBT, and other evidence-based practices. I welcome all gender identities and orientations, and I am committed to practicing with sensitivity to multicultural backgrounds.

Are we a good fit?

This is the best question to ask when you’re looking for a therapist. You want a good fit! You can learn a good amount from a website, but there’s no way to really know if you have a good fit aside from meeting in person.
